Marianna Marcucci is Co-founder of Invasioni Digitali, a bottom-up project of collective participation in creation cultural contents to promote a nation’s cultural heritage, through web and social media, and is looking for to taking part in MuseumWeek 2017.
1. Why are you personally on social media?
Social media aroused my curiosity since the first time I’ve discovered them and I’ve started testing and experimenting to try to fulfill their potential. They gave me the opportunity to keep in touch with people I knew but also to get connected with people with my interests to share ideas, projects, doubts, studies. I’m really lucky because I learnt a lot from people known online, I had the chance to engage with professionals from all over the world and I found new friends to share a glass of wine (or two!) with.
2. Why did you partecipate to #MuseumWeek?
I believe that the application of the new forms of communication and shared multimedia to the cultural heritage is a fundamental opportunity to boost the transformation of the cultural institutions into open platforms for the circulation, exchange and production of value, capable of ensuring an active communication with the public, and the fruition of cultural heritage free of geographic boundaries wherein the sharing and the model of open access will be the best formulas. Every year, since the first one, I’ve participated to #MuseumWeek with “Invasioni Digitali” because it’s a great way to connect with people who are as passionate as I am about museums, because it gives the opportunity to know all the customs and traditions, the lives of people from all over the world that are so wonderfully different.
3. What are you planning to do to support the #womenMW initiative during the #MuseumWeek ?
I’m so happy that the current edition of #MuseumWeek is dedicated to #WomenMW, I feel it’s the right time to stand up for women empowerment. I’m just back from New Delhi where I’ve participated to the WEF – Women Economic Forum, a global conference to foster empowering conversations and connections among women committed to foster constructive change in all walks of life. I’m deeply honored because, during the conference, I was rewarded with the “Iconic woman creating a better world for all” award meaning that I’m on the right track to make the efforts of women more visible. Within this context I will promote the value of the message of #MuseumWeek for women and men, as human beings, not just genders.
