General Information

What is MuseumWeek?

MuseumWeek is the official international week of museums organized with the support of UNESCO. It is an annual global cultural & phygital event bringing together museums, galleries, archives, and cultural institutions to engage the public through digital and onsite activities. It follows a seven-day, seven-theme structure, with each day dedicated to a specific topic.

When is MuseumWeek 2025?

The 2025 edition will be held online and onsite from June 2 to June 8. It will focus on the general theme of  Togetherness.

Who can participate in MuseumWeek?

All types of cultural organizations, including museums, galleries, libraries, archives, performing arts venues, natural spaces (botanical gardens, heritage sites, aquariums, zoos), and cultural events are welcome to participate. Individual artists, influencers, and the general public are also encouraged to join by sharing artworks, writings, videos, and other media through social outlets.

Do I need to register to participate?

Registration is not mandatory to participate in MuseumWeek. However, registering your organization on the official website allows it to be featured in the official directory of participants and provides access to additional networking opportunities. Read below for pre registration links.

Is participation free of charge?

Yes, participation is completely free for cultural institutions and individuals .

Yes, hashtags are translated in other languages such as Spanish (Español), French (Français), Urdu (اردو), Japanese (日本語 ), and others. Please see a table of the various hashtags and their translations, as well as a list of our current program translations below.
